A simple technique is described for optimal control of temperatures in gas cooled reactors. It uses equations (generalized from the Stefan-Boltzmann law) that relate energy flux in the reactor core with the mean values of the temperature distribution and the mean value of the reactor power. The technique is easy to use. It can be applied for optimizing the boiling water reactors in common situations and for optimization of advanced reactor designs, without the need for the computations of the heat transfer coefficients and the kinetics of the processes involved. The method was tested on two simplified examples: a core with a constant power distribution and a core with a constant temperature distribution. The results obtained with the two simplified cores were compared with the data for a reactor core in operation at the beginning of the 1970s.
Honeybees can be a source of honey, wax, pollen and bees food as well as a waste management solution for the mankind. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of using honeybees as a physical agent for phytoremediation of the low cost non-degradable plastic-based packaging bags. The study dealt with the monitoring of the decomposition of the modified packaging bags due to honeybees activity and the degradation of n-alkanes and the content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from the environment of the packaging bags that were placed near the bee hive. The results of the research showed that honeybees are able to influence decomposition of the packaging bags when stored near the bee hive. The studied honeybee species can be used as a passive bioremediation system for treated waste. The results of the analysis of the composition of the n-alkanes and PAHs showed that the honeybees can be used for the bioremediation of the low cost non-degradable plastic-based packaging bags without releasing toxic compounds into the environment and for the biodegradation of the n-alkanes and PAHs content from the environment. The results of the monitoring of the decomposition of the packaging bags showed that the honeybee activity could be used as a tool for environmental monitoring. 827ec27edc
