The Naruto universe is one of the richest and broadest in the history of manga and anime. Masashi Kishimoto's creation began its journey in Shueisha's Shonen Jump in November 1999 after charming the editors of the publishing house a few years earlier with a one-shot that would eventually lead to the hero of the Hidden Leaf Village. Everything else is history, like its anime, full of episodes, movies, OVA and yes, filler. If you plan to watch Naruto and Naruto Shippuden and want to know the right order to watch it all, you're in the right place.
Naruto has had a total of 11 movies to date (three from the original series, seven from Naruto Shippuden and one from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations). Many of them are filler, so they are not necessary to enjoy the truly canon. Not for nothing, there are two exceptions: The Last: Naruto the Movie and Boruto: Naruto the Movie. These two are canon and, especially the former, tremendously important to watch.
In the case of the OVA (Original Video Animation) is more complicated. They are a kind of short films of 10 to 30 minutes (approximately) that have been coming out to complement the movies, special episodes of the anime or to celebrate a specific event related to Naruto. Not only are they more difficult to find, but they are also quite difficult to place because of how little they have to do with the plot (yes, they are pure filler). We leave you with the most recommended order, but also with their release date, in case you prefer to guide you based on it. Do not take this order as "I must see it after this chapter", but rather as "from here I can see it". There is no rush for the OVA and the good thing about them is that only the penultimate one in the following list is necessary (very important, but be careful with its title, it is a spoiler!). Said OVA is canon, you can''t miss it and we still can't explain how it was not part of the series, even if it was in Boruto and through a flashback. We leave you with them:
Since the 52nd chapter of the manga, Boruto is one hundred percent headed by Kishimoto. In 2017 it would be TV Tokyo in charge of bringing to television the first episodes of the anime of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, which is still currently broadcasting every Sunday afternoon in Japan. You can watch the entire series on Crunchyroll.
James Mitchum's role as Robin Doolin, Lucas's younger brother, was originally written for Elvis Presley per Robert Mitchum's request. Mitchum personally submitted the script to Elvis in Los Angeles. The singer was eager to play the role, but his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, demanded Elvis be paid a ridiculous sum of money, more than the entire budget for the movie, which ended negotiations. Mitchum's elder son James got the part, which worked well owing to his extremely close physical resemblance to his father.

The second Naruto movie follows Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru as they get caught in a battle for the Stone of Gelel. The stone is a powerful mineral that can grant the user power on par with a jinchūriki [a human and a tailed beast]. The film takes place after episode 106 of Naruto.
Team 7 attempts to capture a ninja named Mukade, and the mission ends with Naruto and Yamato being sent 20 years into the past. Here, Naruto needs the help of the fourth Hokage and a younger Kakashi to return home. Be sure to watch this film after episode 143.
This movie is not perfect by any means. However it is a good weekend movie. A curl up on the couch type movie. Of course if you know the story, there are no surprises in store for you and you are likely to spend a lot of time just waiting for the shoe to drop. The final act though, makes this worth powering through.
Thelma and Louise and two best friends on a road trip through the Southwest USA with Mexico as their final destination, but not exactly for a holiday escape. Through gorgeous landscapes and a whole lot of shenanigans, the two friends are on a mission to get away from the cops after Louise shoots a man who attempted to rape Thelma.
The new take follows a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise. While exact details behind who McGregor will be playing are unknown, sources made it clear he would be playing an original character and not himself in the project. The Amazon Original Movie is set to go into production in the Dominican Republic this month and will stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide at release.
Alaina will make her acting debut in Road Less Traveled, a feature-length film written by Michael and Samantha Shear and directed by Blair Hayes. The movie will be released on June 6 via Amazon and iTunes, but it is available for pre-order now.
Road Less Traveled also stars Jason Burkey and Charlene Tilton. The film was produced by MarVista Entertainment and executive produced by Kristopher McNeely and Fernando Szew. The cast and crew of Road Less Traveled went to Knoxville, Tenn., to film the project, and McNeely says it was an ideal arrangement for both the movie crew and the country music industry.
Doug Liman will direct the new movie, from a script written by Anthony Bagarozzi & Charles Mondry. After producing the original film for MGM in 1989, Joel Silver is back on board to produce the reimagining for his company Silver Pictures. JJ Hook, Alison Winter and Aaron Auch will serve as executive producers.

We have one Kindle so maybe it's time to figure out for to download a movie or two onto it, and buy a second for the other kiddo. I was envisioning a DVD player attached to the back of one of the front seat chairs but your suggestion is probably far more practical.
Skip the DVDs. Let the kids load up the back seat with books, favorite toys, pillows, blankets, whatever they want. Buy a paper map and teach them how to use it. One of our best road trip toys was a small "magna doodle" that we used to draw pictures and write messages and pass them back and forth. (Not the driver, of course.) I guess I'm old fashioned but our best road trips were when we left the electronics at home.
I like all those non electronics ideas too, and we'll do many of those. The movie options will come in handy when it's truly a long slog make-it-work moment that will save parental sanity. Thanks all!
We loved loved loved loved LOVED audio books at that age. I highly recommend asking your local librarian about some good ones. A solid audio book can entertain the whole family far longer than a 1.5 hr movie and they can still see the scenery. Maybe the first Harry Potter book or the How To Train Your Dragon series. I think David Tennant does the voices.
If presented the right way (we're going on an adventure and will play lots of fun (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g){document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);})(function(){ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-98672990', '');}, 'log_autolink_impression');car games, etc) instead of in a negative way (no electronics for you!), you can have a great road trip without all the extra electronics. Your kids might surprise you and do very well. People always look at me like I'm crazy when they ask what our kiddo does on road trips and I tell them we do the old-school games, etc without electronics. We've done our road trips without devices successfully many times and over thousands of miles. Give it a try and see what great memories you can make!
Max Max: Fury Road is already considered one of the best action movies ever made, but George Miller's post-apocalyptic franchise had to start somewhere. Fans only have a few more weeks left to watch the original Mad Max on Netflix before it leaves the streaming platform on July 31. Once you finish watching the original on Netflix, you can switch over to HBO Max to watch the incredible follow-up Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior) and the third film, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. 2b1af7f3a8
